Torrance Unified School District

The Torrance Unified School District consists of 17 elementary, 8 middle, 4 high schools, 1 continuation, and 1 alternative high school. The District also has 3 adult school campuses. Torrance Unified was established in 1947 and unified in 1948, and is nestled in the heart of the South Bay, in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County. Our District is bordered by the Palos Verdes Peninsula on the south, the beach cities - Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach - to the west, and the cities of Lawndale and Hawthorne to the north. The District serves the entire City of Torrance and is governed by five school board members from five trustee areas. FILING DATE   EXTENDED   - MAY 1, 2026, 4:30 PM District Classified application, supplemental form   and   Associate Teacher Child Development Permit  must be submitted to the Personnel Commission Office must be submitted by the filing deadline.     SELECTION PROCEDURE: This is an  OPEN  recruitment to establish an eligibility list, fill a vacancy and hire substitutes. Substitutes work on an as-needed basis to fill in for absent employees. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. Positions in this classification are full-time, 10 months per year, 195-203 days. The recruitment process will consist of a written examination and an oral technical interview which are  tentatively  scheduled during the weeks of  May 4-15, 2026.  Qualified applicants will be notified by US mail or email.
