Overview:
The peer recovery specialist in training, is a team member who is working towards requirements for CPRS/CRSS (certified peer recovery specialist), who will be trained and supervised to assist patients access evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders with a focus on low-threshold access to MAR (medication assisted recovery), treatment programs and harm-reduction. Peer in training provides mentoring and support to individuals in recovery, using their lived experience to help others navigate treatment and achieve their goals, while also learning the necessary skills and knowledge for the role.
Qualifications:
Certifications: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, (CPRS) within 2 years - Illinois Alcohol and Othe Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA).
