Job Summary: Interview patients in a hospital setting and/or home visits to assist them in obtaining maximum benefit coverage for Federal, State and HealthNet Gaston programs. Refer patients to the Department of Social Services and/or Hospital for assistance with Federal, State or Charity programs as appropriate. Maintain documentation of status of claims and patient contact in computer system. Follow up with clients as needed.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; two or more years of college preferred. 1–2 years experience in the insurance field. Knowledge of Federal and State benefit programs. Knowledge of Federal and State disability programs. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working with people of various educational and socioeconomic backgrounds (healthcare setting preferred). Strong organizational skills—ability to prioritize, plan and follow tasks through to completion without direct supervision. Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Bilingual preferred but not required. Self-motivated.
