Education and Experience:
Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in a field of biology or chemistry or Master’s Degree in a field of biology or chemistry and two (2) years’ laboratory experience or Bachelor’s Degree in a field of biology or chemistry and four (4) years’ laboratory experience

Postdoctoral research experience with a strong background in grant writing and assisting in securing external research funding
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and oversee complex research projects by learning and implementing innovative techniques.
Develop new experimental techniques and methodologies.
Analyze and interpret research findings, ensuring scientific rigor.
Contribute to scientific publications and grant proposals, utilizing results from search and analysis of literature from multiple sources.
Present research findings at conferences and scientific meetings.
Assists PI to secure and manage research funding through grants and collaborations.
Maintain research program in absence of PI and plan and manage research timelines, resources, and budgets.
Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines for laboratory safety and research ethics, including laboratory equipment maintenance.
Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure maintenance equipment.
Supervise and mentor research associates, technicians, and trainees.
Stay updated with emerging trends, techniques, and technologies in the field to enhance research quality.
May assist in animal husbandry, collection of physiological data, and euthanasia.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center, located in Jackson, is the state’s only academic medical center.
